Transformed by the Potter's Hand
Isaiah 64:8
Yet
you, Lord, are our Father.
We are
the clay, you are the potter;
we are
all the work of your hand.
Understanding people is a journey for me. I’m definitely
still evolving and currently going through a period of growth.
A few weeks back, my father-in-law and I had a conversation about the remarkable potter and that we are like clay in his hands.
The potter tirelessly shapes the clay, repeating the process
time and again. At times, he discards what he has created on the wheel,
beginning again. With careful attention, he refines the edges, striving for
perfection. In a similar way, God continuously molds us to reflect the image of
Jesus. Our stubbornness can lead to moments where He must lift us from the
wheel and restart the journey altogether.
The molding process can often be uncomfortable, yet it is
precisely in these moments that we are transformed into the individuals God
intends us to be. Over the past year, I have personally experienced a
significant reshaping in my ability to extend grace and show compassion. I once
believed I was doing well in these areas, but God revealed to me that I had
room for growth. This journey of understanding compassion has come full circle,
and I am grateful for it. I now perceive others through a new lens, as God has
taught me to be more compassionate toward His people. Each day, I pray for
opportunities to express that compassion to those around me.
This morning, I tuned into a podcast that emphasized the
importance of understanding the unique ways people communicate. It’s not just
about our words, but recognizing the vast differences in how we think and
perceive the world. I truly appreciate this diversity; life would be incredibly
dull if everyone shared the same mindset.
I feel immense gratitude for the potter's wheel and the way it symbolizes God's unwavering commitment to reshaping His children. It brings me joy to know that I can remain open to being molded by His hands. By surrendering control and allowing Him to guide the process, we not only experience beautiful transformations but also uncover valuable lessons about ourselves along the way.
